Meet the MCEU Partner: University College of Northern Denmark (UCN)

Coordinating European collaboration on micro-credentials in hospitality.

The University College of Northern Denmark (UCN) is the coordinator of the Erasmus+ project MCEU Hospitality – Upskilling the EU Hospitality Industry with Portable Micro-Credentials.

As a Danish public university college specialising in professional and applied sciences education, UCN brings extensive experience in European cooperation projects, quality assurance, digital learning environments, and innovation in education and training.

Within MCEU Hospitality, UCN acts as both project coordinator and lead beneficiary for Work Package 1, while also contributing across several other work packages throughout the project lifecycle.


Leading project management and coordination

As coordinator, UCN is responsible for the overall governance, coordination, and quality assurance of the consortium.

This includes:
– project governance and quality assurance
– financial and administrative management
– risk management and compliance
– coordination with the European Commission
– data governance and quality management
– consortium communication and reporting

Through this role, UCN ensures high implementation standards and compliance with European requirements throughout the project.


Supporting labour-market relevant skills development
Beyond project coordination, UCN contributes to several key areas of the project:

Ecosystem for Skills (WP2)
UCN supports research activities aimed at identifying current and future skills needs within the European hospitality sector and contributes to the analysis of how micro-credentials can be integrated into existing education and training systems.

Development of Micro-Credential Courses (WP3)
UCN contributes to the development of the micro-credential framework, course design, learning outcomes, assessment methodologies, and quality assurance mechanisms aligned with European standards.

Piloting of Micro-Credentials (WP5)
UCN actively participates in piloting activities through learner recruitment, information sessions, evaluation processes, and collaboration with industry stakeholders.

Communication and Dissemination (WP6)
UCN supports communication, dissemination, stakeholder engagement, and long-term sustainability activities throughout the project.


Supporting the future of skills in hospitality
Through its coordination role and technical expertise, UCN contributes to developing policy-aligned, labour-market relevant, and sustainable micro-credentials that support the green and digital transition of the European hospitality sector.
