Micro-credentials certify the learning outcomes of short-term learning experiences, such as a short course or training. They offer a flexible, targeted way to help people develop the knowledge, skills, and competences they need for their personal and professional development.
A Micro-credential is the record of the learning outcomes that a learner has acquired following a small volume of learning. These learning outcomes have been assessed against transparent and clearly defined standards. Courses leading to Micro-credentials are designed to provide the learner with specific knowledge, skills and competences that respond to societal, personal, cultural or labour market needs. Micro-credentials are owned by the learner, can be shared and are portable. They may be standalone or combined into larger credentials. They are underpinned by quality assurance following agreed standards in the relevant sector or area of activity.
The project offers five courses on green and digital skills tailored to the needs of the hospitality industry. These courses provide targeted knowledge, skills, and competencies for the modern hospitality sector.
By leveraging EU tools such as Europass, the European Digital Credentials for Learning, and EBSI, the project ensures that Micro-credentials are portable and recognized across different EU member states.
The project develops courses that focus on sustainable practices and digital technologies essential to the hospitality industry. This supports the EU’s goal of transforming the industry towards more sustainable and energy-efficient methods.
The project aims to issue Micro-credentials to 500 learners. This can have a significant impact by equipping a substantial number of hospitality workers with in-demand skills, potentially transforming the industry by fostering innovation and modern practices.
By creating targeted courses that address current and future skills needs in the hospitality industry, the project contributes to Action 4 of the EU Skills Agenda which focuses on modernizing vocational education and training (VET) in the EU.
The open-source online platform allows for the easy issuance, storage, and verification of Micro-credentials. It also supports the EU’s objectives of digital transformation and interoperability across member states.
Hospitality workers looking to enhance their skills in green and digital areas, as well as professionals interested in advancing their careers in the industry, will benefit from the targeted courses offered by the project.
