Meet the MCEU Partner: IÐAN Education Centre
Organisational Profile, Role and Contribution in the MCEU-Hospitality Project.

IÐAN serves as Iceland’s education and training centre for industry and skilled professions. The organisation focuses on competency enhancement, offering upskilling and reskilling courses, validation of prior learning, qualification exams, and maintaining strong partnerships with labour market stakeholders.
Within MCEU Hospitality, IÐAN is the Lead Beneficiary for Work Package 5 (WP5): Piloting Micro-Credential Courses.
Lead Role – WP5: Piloting Micro-Credentials
IÐAN manages the piloting strategy. The consortium implements a structured piloting approach across two testing phases to validate the relevance and added value of micro-credentials for learners and labour market stakeholders.
IÐAN, UCN, and Sant Pol recruit and enrol learners, deliver online learning pathways, and collect qualitative and quantitative feedback. SAF supports employer engagement by facilitating links with Icelandic companies involved in the piloting activities.
Using the AEIOU framework, the partners assess learner experience and scalability potential. The piloting activities result in consolidated reporting on feasibility, learner experience, employer recognition, and the transferability of the MCEU approach.
Contribution to WP3 – Course Development
IÐAN contributes pedagogical expertise and national VET insight during framework development, ensuring compatibility with vocational education systems.
Contribution to WP2 – Ecosystem for Skills
IÐAN supported WP2 through local outreach in Iceland, promoting the skills needs survey and awareness of micro-credentials among industry and policy stakeholders. This outreach strengthened the evidence base informing the project’s micro-credential development.
Summary of IÐAN’s Organisational Responsibilities
IÐAN validates the MCEU model in practice. Through structured piloting, evaluation, and stakeholder engagement, the organisation ensures that the developed micro-credentials are effective, scalable, and transferable.
