MCEU Hospitality

Upskilling the EUROPEAN Hospitality Industry with Portable Micro-Credentials

The MCEU Hospitality project aims to develop micro-credentials to support hospitality workers’ upskilling and reskilling, addressing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic and EU’s green and digital transition plans.
It creates demand-led courses for green and digital skills, aligning with EU recommendations on micro-credentials.
The project will establish an online platform for issuing and verifying these credentials, leveraging EU tools for portability and recognition.
With five courses targeting 500 learners, the project aligns with EU’s Skills Agenda for modernizing vocational education and training. Overall, it fosters innovation in the hospitality industry, driving systemic change at practice and policy levels.

Data collection is the key action to understand the needs in the hospitality sector. Data on missing or desired skills will be gathered through a survey in the first year of the project.

Based on data analysis from the survey and the five skills identified, a course framework for five micro-credential courses will be developed.

The project pilots micro-credential courses, refines content based on feedback, and streamlines enrollment and credential issuance for 500 learners. It aims to gather insights from learners, employers, and experts, refine micro-credentials for industry alignment, and evaluate scalability.
